Eleven accidents. How is prevention possible? BY SALEEM SAFI
A COMPARISON OF PIA AND EMIRATES AIRLINES IN PAKISTAN
May 30, 2020TOTAL AIRCRAFTS CRASHED HISTORY OF PIA AND EMIRATES AIRLINE
PIA was established on October 29, 1946, in Calcutta under the name of Orient Airways,
which became a Government-owned Pakistan International Airlines Corporation after the formation of Pakistan, while Emirates (Emirates Airlines) was established in 1985. Two aircraft were leased by PIA. Similarly, the initial training of their pilots and other crews was done by PIA pilots and experts. Now the situation is that PIA has about 700 weekly flights at home and abroad while Emirates has 3600 flights. PIA currently has 30 different types of small and large aircraft, while Emirates Airlines has about 300 aircraft, all of which are large aircraft.
PIA operates flights to 18 different destinations in the country
and only 25 international destinations, while Emirates flies to 157 cities in 80 countries. Emirates Airlines has so far had only one plane crash during landing (August 2016) but all but one of its passengers remained safe, while PIA, by contrast, has become the unlucky airline with the highest rate of air crashes. Is the most The first plane crash occurred on November 20, 1956, when a PIA Boeing 720 crashed in Egypt, killing 121 people. On August 6, 1970, a PIA Fokker F-27 crashed in Pindi, killing 31 passengers. On December 8, 1972, another PIA Fokker plane crashed in Pindi, killing 33 people.
Then on November 26, 1979, a PIA Boeing 707 crashed in Jeddah,
killing 86 people. On August 25, 1989, PIA's Fokker F-27 crashed in the Himalayan mountains on its way to Gilgit and its wreckage has not been found. Unfortunately, this did not stop at any time and a few years ago, on December 7, 2016, a PIA ATR plane crashed on its way from Chitral, killing 47 passengers, and the tragedy was still fresh. Two days ago, on May 22, a PIA Airbus plane on its way from Lahore to Karachi had a tragic accident while landing in which 97 people were killed. These are just PIA accidents, but if the accidents of private airlines are also combined, then this matter of playing with human lives comes to the fore in an even more horrific form.
For example, on July 28, 2010, an Airblue plane crashed in the mountains of Margalla while landing in Islamabad, killing 52 people. Just two years later, a Bhoja Airlines plane crashed in Pindi, killing 27 people.
The most famous air crash in Pakistan's aviation history was that of C-31 on August 17, 1988, in which the then President of Pakistan and Army Chief General Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, General Akhtar Abdul Rehman and many other senior militaries and civilian officers were killed.

The question is why air travel, considered the safest means of travel
in the world has become the most unsafe means in Pakistan. The bigger question is why Emirates Airlines, which was formed with the help of PIA, has become the highest-earning company today and why PIA itself has taken the form of a white elephant? The bigger question is why Emirates Airlines, which was started with the help of PIA experts, is today considered to be the safest and most dangerous airline in the world.
In my opinion, political interference is also a reason.
This is also one of the reasons why the affairs of the PIA are usually handed over to unrelated people. Unionism has also played a role in destabilizing the PIA, but the real problem is that there is no concept of punishment. The perpetrators are not rewarded and the perpetrators are not punished. And to this day, the facts have not been brought before the nation as to who was responsible for which accident? The May 22 crash in Karachi is yet to be investigated (although this inquiry will be controversial without adopting international standards and representing pilots), but the question is why the investigative reports of past air accidents have come to light. Were not brought and why those responsible were not punished?
The PM's spokesperson, citing the Sugar Inquiry Commission report
claims that Khan does not bring any fear to mind. If so, Bismillah. Take the inquiry reports of all past air accidents out of the government's cupboards and put them in front of the nation. Start with the report of Bahawalpur tragedy and put all the inquiry reports of air accidents before the nation at one-day intervals. Punishing those responsible is a later matter, at least the nation should know who has committed which crime or negligence at what time?
