It was declared a democratic victory of the Muslims and the victory was celebrated on January 11, 1946. After the provincial elections, the Muslim League won 428 out of a total of 495 Muslim seats. The East Bengal elections in 1954 were marred by chaos, with no party other than the Muslim League participating in the protests. There were bloody riots on this occasion. The constitution was drafted in 1956 but martial law was enacted on October 7, 1958.

On March 25, 1969, Ayyub Khan handed over power to Commander and Chief General Yahya Khan following public protests. Yahya Khan called a general election on December 7, 1970 on the basis of adult suffrage. And the country was divided. The rest of the country was given to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
He gave the constitution of 1973 but Zia-ul-Haq again imposed martial law on July 5, 1970. This was followed by the 1984 referendum and then the undemocratic era of Musharraf, during which the undemocratic behavior of politicians in the name of democracy led to the destruction of democracy. On this occasion, the democratic forces and the media were unable to play their full role.
In a seminar hosted by Jhuk Seraiki at the Multan Press Club on the role of media in democratic values, I said that it looks like a very interesting topic but no one is ready to listen, tell and tell that There is no democracy anywhere in the world. From day one, the media has played more or less a role in the public interest.
If we look at democracy in a global context and look at the countries that sing the tune of democracy in the morning and in the evening, there are also tragic events in the desire to rule the world. Take the 9/11 incident, the media around the world cheated not only themselves but also the people of other countries.
Under the guise of this, carpet bombing was carried out on Afghanistan. To divert attention from this, the poetry of the French astronomer poet was used, which he had predicted two and a half hundred years ago. Two iron birds will hit New City. People's attention was drawn there. As a result, mountains of misery fell on millions of Afghans.
If a duck's leg is broken in Europe, it is the media that takes the process to the skies. But no matter what happens to the Muslims, the eyes of the media do not see anything, while we saw the media channels broadcasting long on the issue of cleanliness and filth in some areas of Karachi. This was just an objection. He was saying that there is an owl sitting on every branch.
Seeing this, subjugated countries like ours continue to cover this deceptive global media. The role of both the European media and our media in the devastation of Afghanistan after 9/11 remained the same. Who are these Taliban? Who raised them? Whose funding? The media never talked about it. By confusing the people with the role of media in strengthening democracy, they are ready to collectively exploit the poor by capturing feudal lords, capitalists and powerful democracies.
That is the role of the media. However, in countries like Pakistan, individual atrocities against the people are sometimes covered individually. But people do not speak out for policies that allow state resources to flow into the coffers of occupying groups through the pipeline. No one is willing to listen to the poor, especially the poor in the backward areas.
Awareness of the people is a reflection of the strong role of the media but the role of the media has always been active in the promotion of exploitative democracy. The role of the media in the legislature to benefit the common man is zero. If the role of the media is zero, then the role of the media should be talked about for the promotion of true democracy. This is the last word. The focus should be on the electoral system and the system of representation. The media should raise the awareness of the people about this. ۔ Media houses must realize over time whether democracy itself or the media's own survival is at stake.
